What Is Sveltia CMS?
Section titled “What Is Sveltia CMS?”Sveltia CMS is a modern, free, Git-based headless CMS built as a complete rewrite of Decap CMS. It is lightweight — under 500 KB — and designed to be significantly faster than its predecessor .
Sveltia has resolved over 345 issues inherited from the Decap/Netlify CMS codebase, offering a cleaner, more reliable editing experience. It is actively maintained and includes built-in internationalization support and better mobile compatibility.
How It Works with Astro Docus
Section titled “How It Works with Astro Docus”Like Decap, Sveltia CMS is Git-based. It commits content directly to your repository, and Astro builds the final site from those files. The admin interface is served from your deployed site and communicates with your Git provider for authentication and content operations.
Sveltia is designed to be highly compatible with existing Decap CMS configurations. If you have a Decap setup, Sveltia can often work with the same content structure without major changes .
