Download & Extract

This page covers everything that happens after you buy the Astro Docus template — from receiving the Gumroad link, downloading the ZIP file, extracting it, and opening the project folder so you’re ready to run the Installation guide.

What You Get After Buying

Once your payment is confirmed on Gumroad, you receive:

• A download link for the project ZIP file
• A receipt sent to your email
• A Gumroad library entry so you can re-download anytime

Tip: Keep your Gumroad receipt email. It contains the permanent download link in case you lose the ZIP file.

Step 1 — Access Your Download

Option A: Download Immediately After Purchase

1. Complete the checkout on Gumroad.
2. After payment, Gumroad shows a “Download” button on the confirmation screen.
3. Click it to save the ZIP file to your computer.

Option B: Download Later From Your Library

If you already purchased the template and need the file again:

1. Go to: https://creativitaz.gumroad.com/l/starlightastrodocus
2. Click the “Already bought this? Get your download link” text near the top of the page.
3. Enter the same email address you used when purchasing.
4. Gumroad sends a fresh download link to your inbox.
5. Open the email → click the download link → save the ZIP file.

If you don’t see the email: Check your spam / promotions folder. The sender will be Gumroad or creativitaz.

Step 2 — Locate the ZIP File

By default, your browser saves downloads to:

OS	Default download folder
Windows	C:\Users\YourName\Downloads
macOS	/Users/YourName/Downloads
Linux	/home/YourName/Downloads

The file will look something like:

starlightastrodocus.zip

or

astrodocus-main.zip

The exact name depends on what the creator uploaded to Gumroad.

Tip: Open File Explorer (Windows) or Finder (macOS), then go to Downloads and look for the newest ZIP file.

Step 3 — Create a Project Folder

Before extracting, create a clean folder to hold the project. This keeps your work organized and easy to find later.

Recommended location

OS	Suggested folder
Windows	C:\Projects\astrodocus
macOS	/Users/YourName/Projects/astrodocus
Linux	/home/YourName/projects/astrodocus

How to create it

Windows:

1. Open File Explorer.
2. Go to C:\ (or any drive you prefer).
3. Right-click → New → Folder.
4. Name it Projects.
5. Open Projects, right-click → New → Folder, name it astrodocus.

macOS / Linux:

1. Open Finder or your file manager.
2. Go to your home folder.
3. Create a new folder called Projects.
4. Inside it, create another folder called astrodocus.

Why a separate folder? Because extracting directly into Downloads creates clutter, and Astro projects have hundreds of files. A dedicated folder keeps everything clean.

Step 4 — Extract the ZIP File

Windows

1. Locate the ZIP file in Downloads.
2. Right-click the ZIP → Extract All…
3. In the dialog, click Browse and select your new folder: C:\Projects\astrodocus
4. Click Extract.
5. Open the folder — you should see files like astro.config.mjs, package.json, and folders like src/, public/.

Windows tip: If you don’t see “Extract All”, you need a tool like 7-Zip (https://7-zip.org) or WinRAR (https://www.rarlab.com).

macOS

1. Locate the ZIP file in Downloads.
2. Double-click the ZIP file.
3. macOS automatically extracts it into a folder with the same name.
4. Drag that folder into ~/Projects/astrodocus/.

Linux

cd ~/Projects/astrodocus
unzip ~/Downloads/starlightastrodocus.zip

Or use your file manager’s Extract Here option.

Step 5 — Verify the Extraction

Open the extracted folder. You should see the following top-level items:

astro.config.mjs
package.json
tsconfig.json
README.md
.npmrc
public/
src/

If you see these, the extraction was successful.

If the ZIP extracted with a nested folder: You may end up with astrodocus/astrodocus/. In that case, move the inner folder’s contents up one level so astro.config.mjs sits directly inside C:\Projects\astrodocus\.

Step 6 — Open the Project in VS Code

Now that the folder is ready, open it in your code editor.

1. Launch VS Code.
2. Click File → Open Folder.
3. Navigate to your project folder (e.g., C:\Projects\astrodocus).
4. Click Select Folder.

VS Code will load the project and show the file tree on the left.

Step 7 — What’s Next?

Your project is now extracted and open in VS Code. The next step is to install dependencies and run the development server.

Troubleshooting

Problem	Solution
Download link expired	Use “Already bought this? Get your download link” on the Gumroad page
Can’t find the purchase email	Check spam / promotions folder, or search for Gumroad
ZIP won’t open on Windows	Install 7-Zip (https://7-zip.org) or WinRAR
Extracted folder is empty	Re-download the ZIP — it may have been corrupted
Nested folder after extraction	Move inner files up one level
Files look garbled in Notepad	Use VS Code instead — Notepad breaks line endings

Quick Summary
